「写真には力がある。見た人に考えさせ、行動させる力がある。」
「あなたの写真からは、この景色を守りたいという気持ちが伝わってきた。この写真を見た人はこの景色を守りたいと思うだろう。」
それまで私は、写真とは記録として残すものだと考えていました。
近年、温暖化や人口減少など、私たちの社会を取り巻く環境は大きく変化しています。
これまで当たり前のように見ていた自然の景色や伝統行事は、5年後、10年後には失われてしまうかもしれません。
私の子供や次の世代には、写真ではなく実際の景色や伝統を見せてあげたい。写真として記録するだけでなく、自然や伝統そのものを守り、後世に伝えたい。
写真を見てくれた人が「守りたい」と感じ、考え、行動するきっかけとなるような写真を撮りたい。
これが私の写真家としての目標です。
Photographer
新潟を拠点に活動する写真家。2008年よりキャリアをスタートし、風景、ポートレート、スナップなど、特定のジャンルに縛られない自由な表現を追求している。作家活動の傍ら、SONYのフラッグシップレンズ「G Master」のプロモーションや、JR東日本の案件を手掛けるなど、商業・広告分野においても第一線で活動。現在は京都芸術大学大学院 修士課程（MFA）に在籍し、写真・映像領域における学術的な研究と表現の深化に取り組んでいる。
2022年、世界最高峰の国際写真賞「International Photography Awards (IPA)」にて、日本人初となる「Nature Photographer of the Year」を受賞。ニューヨークのカーネギーホールで開催された「ルーシー賞」への招待、世界各国での作品展示など、国際的に高い評価を得ている。2026年5月には、世界屈指の写真賞を主宰する国際的な写真支援組織「Farmani Group」主宰の「TIFA（Tokyo International Foto Awards）」との合同展示会「TIFA ＆ Kogame Photo Joint Exhibition」を東京・渋谷にて開催。
また、国際フォトコンテストでの活躍を目指すクリエイターを支援する「Kogame Photo Community」や、写真表現を体系的に学ぶための教育事業「Kogame Photo Academy」を主宰。「Great Photography Awards」の審査員を務めるなど、自身の知見を次世代へ伝える活動や、写真文化の発展にも尽力している。国内では、内閣府発行の政府広報誌「Highlighting Japan（2024年1月号）」にて、日本の冬景色を象徴する写真家として紹介された。

“Microcosm”
In the falling snow of Niigata City, an everyday scene reveals a microcosm of modern society. Residential homes huddle under the gaze of industrial smokestacks, their plumes merging with the winter clouds.
“Tadami Line in Winter”
This photograph won the 'Nature Photographer of the Year' award in the Nature category of IPA2022, one of the world's largest photo contests. It was also selected as a finalist for the Lucie Awards at Carnegie Hall.
“fairy tale world”
The 'Tadami Line' that runs through Mishima, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, is a beautiful place surrounded by nature. The train running slowly through the snow looks like something out of a fairy tale.
“Morning in Niigata”
Yahiko Otorii, a 30-meter-high gateway to the city. It has a strong presence as a symbol of the local community. The sight of it floating in the morning mist is mysterious.
“Tadami Line Before Dawn”
The Tadami Line is one of the most unexplored routes in Japan. The first train running before dawn under silently falling snow. The scenery is like something out of a fairy tale.

“The Postman”
The railroad tracks leading into the factory are impressive. This place is an actual landscape. The houses in the foreground show people's lives, and the large smokestacks loom in the background.
